Georgia Saxelby: lullaby

Georgia Saxelby: Lullaby is the US debut solo exhibition of Lullaby, a two-channel video installation by Australian-born US-based artist, Georgia Saxelby. Through performance and video-installation, Saxelby approaches the architectural symbols of democracy dotting the landscape of the National Mall in Washington, DC in order to explore the intersections of ritual, gender, and architecture. Through this singular immersive video-work, Saxelby implores viewers to consider and perhaps envision a world in which women are not only equal, but thriving. Georgia Saxelby: Lullaby is the final exhibition at the Embassy of Australia before it is slated for demolition in the fall of 2019, invoking considerations of history, place, country, power, and government.

Georgia Saxelby: Lullaby is curated by Sandy Guttman. The exhibition is on view from July 10, 2019 - October 18, 2019.
